Lab User Manual Input Session
What’s missing in laboratory delivery to communicate how the building runs, what it needs to be high performance, and how it can stay that way over its life cycle? This session wants your input to add to the interviews we have already conducted. While building owners or operators are especially invited, any design team member with anecdotes, examples, strategies for what works or what doesn’t work would be great. This can address core and shell, MEP, HVAC, maintenance and how records are handed over then stored. The output of our work will be put into a white paper to inform future design processes, commissioning, warranty periods and even design guides.
Circular Economy for Labs Community of Practice
The I2SL Circular Economy for Labs Community of Practice has been working for over a year to link lab owners, operators, managers, and researchers with their suppliers and others who can help reduce the amount of packaging, waste, energy, and water created in the lab environment. Join us for a planning session for the Community of Practice as we discuss forum topics and other strategies for 2025, with a special focus on sustainable procurement. We’ll also discuss a strategic approach for topics and themes for the Lab Waste Landfill Diversion Working Group to tackle in the future. Come share ideas and input!
Federal and National Labs: Smart Labs Meet-Up
Join us for the Smart Labs meetup at I2SL! The purpose will be to discuss increasing the safety and energy efficiency of laboratories at federal facilities. The meetup will be hosted by Rachel Romero and Otto VanGeet from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) who work with the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) to implement Smart Labs. FEMP will provide limited technical assistance for laboratory projects moving forward. Grab lunch and join us!
Tuesday, October 1 | 7:30 am - 8:15 am CDT
Breakfast Session
Labs2Zero Breakfast Session #1: Building a Better Benchmarking Tool
As we roll out more building data and performance tools through the Labs2Zero program, I2SL is looking for ways to improve our lab benchmarking offering. Grab your coffee and join this session as we discuss how embodied carbon data is used in the marketplace. Give your input on market-based operational emissions activity to improve our Labs2Zero score, and brainstorm ways to get more data on hard-to-reach lab types!
Wednesday, October 2 | 7:30 am - 8:15 am CDT
Breakfast Session
Labs2Zero Breakfast Session #2: Be an Ambassador for the Labs2Zero AIM Report
The Labs2Zero Actionable Insights and Measures (AIM) Report will change the way we assess and improve lab building performance in the future. Be an early bird and join us for a rousing discussion on how to roll out the AIM Report pilot in the market; hear plans and give input on longer-term vision for the tool; and give your input on how users might benefit from the AIM Report as well as ways to promote it—and your business.
